Lelydorp, the capital of Wanica, has a population of about 18,000. Described as more of a large village than a city, Lelydorp is at the center of what is considered the most urbanized district of Suriname. Much of Lelydorp is agricultural, making it a strong choice for businesses interested in joining the world market in the export of fruits and other resources. Lelydorp's beautiful scenery also makes it a popular vacation destination for Suriname residents looking to escape the bustle of city-life for a little while.
